Figured I should upload some of my in-progress prototype shots...

A pair of Moiety daggers from the video game Riven. It's not often someone duplicates this design of dagger in a tiny hand-held scale. These are rough prototypes for a project I'm working on. The final versions will look even more awesome. ;)

Resin infused with Aluminium dust, ~15cm/6" long (same length as the Museum Replicas ones). Looks much more matte grey in reality, not as rough with tiny sparkles throughout.

Dude. These are soooo epic. I wanted to make these out of metal first, but the 3D was just too difficult. Amazing job here!

How was it rendered?

These are actual physical objects; it's not a computer-rendered image. ;) They're sitting on my mousemat (I have a big mousemat!). About as long as the base of my palm to my fingertips. But thanks that you consider the image 'perfect' enough that it seems rendered! ;P

I didn't see it as a digital render. I just wondered about the process which made these petite models. Did you do the work yourself? Why did you choose to use resin mixed with aluminum?

Terribly curious is all. :)

Oooh, okay (I had a few other people think it was a digital render  ). These prototypes were printed layer by layer, by a company I contracted to do it for me. I wanted the Aluminium&resin combination to give it a little bit of a metallic shine; the material looks quite unique. Textured like sandstone, shines like brushed metal, has the weight and heat conductance in your hands of resin! They may be just prototypes but I still wanted them to look cool by themselves. ;)

Their texture/colour/composition doesn't really matter though. They're just for testing and for casting. :)
